THEATRE
LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
SYMPOSIUM
"Where is There?!:
Multi-site Performance Events and the Opportunities and Challenges They
Create." Advanced networks, such as Internet2, in combination with other
developments in information technology, make it possible to present and teach
live theater, musical compositions, dance and other performances in new ways.
Rapidly evolving technologies, while often thrilling to the adventurous, can
create interesting challenges in metadata development, securing funding sources,
and managing national consortia exploring these various ventures.
Ann
Doyle, Manager of Internet2 Arts and Humanities Initiatives, will give an overview
of Internet2, show examples of multi-site performances that have been produced
over Internet2, and discuss the implications of these new genres of performance
for archivists, arts presenters, educators and performers.
